Interesting Facts About Dreams

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi Friends,

Im back after  a longgggggggggggg break........

Here let me inform you some of the facts about dreams!!

  • You Forget 90% of Your Dreams:
Within 5 minutes of waking, half of your dream if forgotten. Within 10 minutes, 90% is gone. The famous poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, woke one morning having had a fantastic dream, he put pen to paper and began to describe his “vision in a dream” in what has become one of English's most famous poems: Kubla Khan.

  • Men and Women Dream Differently

Every human being dreams but men and women have different dreams and different physical reactions. Men tend to dream more about other men, while women tend to dream equally about men and women.

  • Not Everybody Dreams in Color

Only 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. Studies from 1915 through to the 1950s maintained that the majority of dreams were in black and white, but these results began to change in the 1960s. Today only 4.4% of the dreams of under-25 year-olds are in black and white. Recent research has suggested that those changing results may be linked to the switch from black-and-white film and TV to color media.

GSLV Launch!!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

 Hi friends,

Let me discuss about GSLV Launch today!

India's GSLV-D3 powered by homegrown cryogenic engine for the first time failed in its mission as the rocket carrying a communication satellite deviated from its path and went out of control shortly after its lift-off from the space port here on Thursday.

"The mission objectives are not met fully. There are indications that the cryogenic engine ignited but the vehicle was tumbling and controllability lost," ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan said.

The 49-metre tall three-stage Geo Synchronous Launch Vehicle blasted off at 4.27pm at the end of a 29-hour countdown but minutes later ISRO said it had stopped receiving data.

Hi Friends,

I'm back! Let me start of with an interesting story!!

One afternoon a wealthy lawyer was riding in  his limousine when he saw two men along the roadside eating  grass. Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and he got  out to investigate. He asked one man "Why are you eating  grass?"

"We don't have any money for  food," the poor man replied. "We have to eat grass."
"Well,  then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you",  the lawyer said.
"But sir, I have a  wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree". "Bring them  along," the lawyer replied.
Turning to the other poor man  he stated, "You come with us also."

The second man, in a pitiful voice then said, "But sir, I also have wife and SIX children with me!" "Bring them all, as well," the lawyer answered.

They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even  for a car as large as the limousine was. Once underway, one  of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir,  you are too kind.

Thank  you for taking all of us with  you."

The lawyer replied, "Glad to do  it. You'll really love my place; the Grass is almost 1  metre high!"

Hi friends,

Good Afternoon. Here is a short story.. Very interesting to read..

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tool and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill .. His son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said: What goes around comes around.
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.

Salt, Pepper and the Spices of Life!!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

Here is an short story to explain the "Salt, Pepper and the Spices of Life"..

You're sitting at a table, having a meal with some friends.

Bowls of soup are served to everyone at the table. Before tasting the soup, the person next to you reaches for the salt and pepper, and for the next 20 seconds vigorously shakes into the soup more salt and pepper than you would use in a month.

You have a pained look on your face. These thoughts immediately go through your mind: "Why would you put salt and pepper in soup, or on any dish, BEFORE you taste it? How do you know how much to add?" You might also think, "How can someone put so much salt and pepper in their food?"

Of course, the roles could be reversed. You might be the one who loves to put a lot of salt and pepper on your food and the person next to you eats the soup without adding salt or pepper. In that case, you think, "How can she eat this bland soup without putting any seasoning in it?"

When it comes to salt, pepper, onions, garlic, curry or just about any type of seasoning, we tend to see things only one way - OUR way. It's hard for us to understand how someone could enjoy food when it is not seasoned as we think is appropriate. We cringe when we see someone "overdoing" or "under-doing" the spices.

How we season our food is a matter of preference and personal taste.

There is no right or wrong way to use seasonings. Furthermore, the way in which another applies salt and pepper does not affect us in any way. They're not putting the salt and pepper in YOUR soup. They are putting the spices in their own soup.

Our world is so diverse, and yet it is difficult for us to accept each other's preferences. Often, when we see people doing things we wouldn't do, our mind says: Why aren't they thinking as I think? Why aren't they acting as I would act? Your mind would often have you believe that your way is superior. Your beliefs and habits are shaped by your genetics and your environment. Each person has different genetics and has grown up in an environment that is different than yours.

Why expect everyone to come to the same conclusion?

Our spiritual growth comes when we learn to accept that others have different preferences, and we honor those preferences. There is no universal religion that everyone will agree to practice. There is no universal political viewpoint that all will accept. There is no one way of raising children that all cultures will agree upon. Marriage customs will vary from culture to culture.

Getting people to agree on these issues is like trying to get everyone to use the same amount of salt and pepper on their food. It's not going to happen.

The diversity in this world is beautiful and we can open our hearts to it. Within our own country and in our relations with people in other countries, we need to continually remind ourselves that it's perfectly acceptable for people to have preferences. If the other person is not harming us, why can't we just smile and get on with life?

The next time you're tempted to judge or criticise the way other people think or act, realize that in most cases, they're just using a different amount of salt or pepper than you would use. Allow them to have their preferences, and there is no need to even consider what YOU would do.

SMS Text Messages are Safer than E-mails?

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

Text messages (also known as SMS, short message
service) and e-mail are both safe, but have limitations to their security and privacy. If confidentiality is critical for your communication, it is best to encrypt your e-mail or use the secure e-mail form on a Web site when available.
Text messages and voice are encrypted while in the air.

Mobile operator managed wireless networks are secure and maintained by IT professionals, and the carriers put very strict controls in place to prevent individuals from misusing network technology. It is extremely unlikely an individual text message would be read, and it would take high level system administrator access to do it.

As to e-mail, again it is possible that a system administrator at the company hosting your e-mail could potentially read your mail. In addition, e-mail moves through the Internet on servers controlled by thousands of government, education and private sector organizations. It is possible, though unlikely, that a system administrator somewhere in that path could capture and read e-mail. It would be difficult and random, as individual e-mails move across the Internet in different paths.

If you want to be very careful, you should encrypt your e-mail, especially if the content is highly confidential. This is particularly true in a corporate environment for sensitive subjects like earnings forecasts, layoffs and raises. Encryption is a way to scramble the data with a mathematical process, called an algorithm, and a digital key that you control. Only people that have your key can read your encrypted e-mail.

If you are sending highly confidential e-mail to someone like your bank, a credit card company or the IRS for example, a very safe practice is to use their online e-mail form rather than your normal e-mail account. This is far more secure than using regular e-mail, because your message is encrypted between your PC and their server as it travels through the Internet. Be sure to look for https:// in the browser address bar. The “s” is for secure.

If you ever receive a mobile text message asking you to click on a link and enter in your account information, delete it immediately. It is a phishing scam. In addition, never communicate sensitive personal information like your social security number or credit card information over SMS.

Why does our Body do that?

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

Today let me discuss with you an important topic..

Whether uncomfortable, embarrassing or just plain weird, there are some pretty funky things that our bodies do. Curious about the causes of such reactions as yawns, sneezes and eye twitches, we spoke with Eric Plasker, DC, author of The 100 Year Lifestyle, to get the real scoop.

Read on to discover the common reasons for peculiar bodily functions.. Here are few:

  • Yawns:
If your body is low on oxygen, your mouth opens wide and tries to suck more in. Yawning is a way to regulate the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in your blood. Unfortunately, yawns are nearly impossible to stifle.

  •    Eye Twitches:
Serious eye twitches can be a symptom of neurological disorders, but often there is a more mundane explanation. Common causes for eye twitches include stress, lack of sleep, extended staring or eye strain. Before you get frantic, try reducing your stress level, cutting back on caffeine and catching up on sleep.

  • Sneeze:
Sneezes happen when your body is trying to expel an irritant from the nasal cavity. If you have allergies, pollen or pet dander is usually to blame. If you have a cold, your body makes mucus to trap the virus, and sneezing helps force it (and the sickness) out of your body. An over-the-counter allergy or cold medicine helps suppress your reaction to allergens or reduce mucus production, which should prevent sneezing fits.

  • Cough:
A cough is another mechanism your body uses to get rid of irritants. There are special cells along your air passage, says Dr. Plasker, that recognize irritants and force them out. Common colds, sinus infections and pneumonia all increase your body’s mucus production, which triggers coughing.

Smoking and asthma also tend to irritate the cells. To help cut down on chronic coughing, exercise regularly and practice good posture to keep your air passage open.

DO U HATE SOMEONE???

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

Here is a Nice story with a good moral. Please go through it..

A kindergarten teacher has decided to let her class play a game. The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates, so the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes; some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week.

Days after days passed by, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended....

The teacher asked: "How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?". The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.

Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: "This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go.

If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime???"

Moral of the story:

Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not carry sins for a lifetime.

Forgiving others is the best attitude to take!

True love is not loving a perfect person
but loving an imperfect person perfectly!!

Skills to Learn for a Job!!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

It is very hard to stand out from the growing pile of resumes in today’s tough job market. If you’re unemployed, consider learning a new skill to gain an advantage.

  1. First, look at your strengths to see how those might cross over into other fields or careers
  2. Then decide what other skills you need to succeed in that area and work on developing them

Here are five skills that might give you an advantage over other job applicants:

1. Project management:

If you’re unemployed and have management experience, consider getting certified in project management. The Project Management Institute certifies people with at least three years of experience in the field or 35 hours of related education.

2. Human resources:

The Society for Human Resource Management offers courses on conflict resolution, recruiting and salary analysis. The trade organization also offers a certification exam that involves 24 to 36 hours of classroom instruction.

3. Search engine optimization:

Web developers rely on “search engine optimization,” strategies designed to help sites rank higher in searches, to boost traffic to their pages. As more people find information through Google and Yahoo , search engine optimization, or SEO, has become an important marketing skill.

4. Public speaking:

Consider polishing your presentation skills by joining your local chapter of Toastmasters International. The organization brings together groups of 20 people or fewer, who meet weekly to practice speeches and get feedback.

5. LEED Certification:

Want to get ahead in real estate or construction?
Applicants must learn about sustainable building and energy and water management to become certified.

Home sellers hire LEED-certified real estate agents to help them value eco-friendly improvements they’ve made. LEED-certified builders are tapping into demand for green development.

If you get a second  chance, grab it with both hands. If it  changes your life, let it. Nobody  said  life would be easy, they just promised it would  be worth it.

Friends are like  balloons;

Once you let them go, you might  not get them back. Sometimes we  get so busy  with our own lives and problems that we may  not even notice that we've let them fly  away. Sometimes we  are  so caught up in who's right and who's wrong  that we forget what's  right  and wrong.. Sometimes we just don't realize  what real friendship  means  until it is too late.

ANIMATRONICS

Posted by Varumana- Usha

 Hello Friends,

Do you know what is "ANIMATRONICS"?

Animatronics is essentially a cross between Animation and Electronics. Basically, an animatronics is a mechanized puppet.

Basically, the puppet consists of a metal skeleton, over which materials (such as clay, latex, etc.) are overlaid to make a body and face. The metal skeleton will be hooked up to some wiring and a control, from which the puppeteer can operate the puppet.

It can be preprogrammed or remotely controlled. It was originally coined by Walt Disney as "Audio-Animatronics”, which can actually be seen in various forms as far back as Leonardo-Da-Vinci's Automata Lion.

Long before digital effects appeared, animatronics were making cinematic history. The scare generated by the Great White coming out of the water in "Jaws" and the tender otherworldliness of "E.T." were its outcomes. The Jurassic Park series combined digital effects with animatronics.

Animatronics are not normally used for theatre productions - although last year, the world was inspired by “The Sultan’s Elephant”, a giant puppet elephant which was taken to the streets of London.

The world-famous Stan Winston Studios has made maximum use of the animatronics technique. “Enthiran” is the first Indian movie to use Stan Winston Studio’s Animatronics technology.

Dad's Blessings

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi,

The Father-child relationship is the defining factor of the fatherhood role. Most fathers are naturally protective, supportive, and responsible and are able to provide a number of significant benefits to themselves, their communities, and their children
Today i will explain you a small short story about " Dad's Blessings"..

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.  Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called  him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said "With all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and  wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go  to  him.  He had not seen him since that graduation day.

Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.  He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it  years ago.

With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.  And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.  It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words "PAID IN FULL".

How many times do we miss Spirit's blessings and answers to our prayers  because they do not arrive exactly as we have expected?

Advertising Career!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

 Hi,

Do you know, What’s the most important qualification advertising agencies look for in young candidates, whether their interests lean toward the creative professions, account management or media buying?

Industry experts say it’s all about having the right instincts about how to deliver a crafted message to a targeted audience in the complex universe of advertising media. Here’s a look at the industry landscape.
Interactive and Multiplatform Campaigns :

More than ever, today’s advertising pros must bring a broad intelligence to their work. Graphic designers can’t retreat into occupational silos. “In a creative, you’re looking for a glimmer of talent that can be applied to anything,”

“They look for people with interests in music, new media, gaming, fashion and an intellectual curiosity in trends and teen culture,” Print and television aren’t dead; they’re simply not as sexy as new media. “There is a huge opportunity for people now in interactive,”and “Students have to consider every single angle, including interactive games and product placements.”
Ad Pros Pay:

Salaries for advertising agency professionals range widely by thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars, depending on factors such as the size and prestige of the agency and the chief markets in which it does business.

For example, senior designers earn a median salary of $60,000 a year, according to 2008 Survey of Design Salaries. Going down the corporate ladder a bit, median salary for entry-level designers is reported to be $35,000.

Wipro employee commits $4 Million fraud!!!!

Hi friends,

Here is an hot topic about "Wipro"..

Wipro has tightened internal control in the finance division. The employee, who was working in the 'controllership' division within the finance department in the last three years, stole a password and transferred funds from Wipro's account at a bank.

Suresh C Senapaty, Wipro's CFO has also confirmed the incident. The company has carried out an investigation and is undertaking actions with respect to stricter adherence to processes. Wipro officials have succeeded in recovering about half the money, but will still face a loss of about $2 million.

Apart from setting up an internal investigation team, Wipro has also taken help from external auditors and investigation experts who will vet its processes and certify the soundness of its controls. Wipro plans to make it compulsory for its employees to sign an undertaking about sharing of passwords and any unauthorized transactions.

The company is also planning to frequently rotate its employees, who are working in sensitive functions within the finance department. Currently, employees in such functions spend around three years before a transfer.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION- EXCELLENT STORY!!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

 Hi friends,

Many of them discuss with our friends most of the times with a particular topic. We may ask some questions which our friends might feel too bad or too good. It depends on the question we ask and mainly it depends on how we ask the Question?

Let me explain you clearly with an sample story:

Jack and Max are walking from religious service. Jack wonders whether it  would be all right to smoke while praying.

Max replies, "Why don't you ask the Priest?"

So Jack goes up to the Priest and asks, "Priest, may I smoke while I   pray?"
But the Priest says, "No, my son, you may not. That's utter disrespect to our religion."

Jack goes back to his friend and tells him what the good Priest told  him.

Max says, "I'm not surprised. You asked the wrong question. Let me  try."

And so Max goes up to the Priest and asks, "Priest, may I pray while I smoke?"
To which the Priest eagerly replies, "By all means, my son. By all means."

Moral: The reply you get depends on the question you ask.

For Example: Can I work on this project while I'm on vacation?!? I think you understand the concept well now..

Why We Love Our Jobs??

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi friends,

Many of them love the jobs that they do. Do you know why?

Here are 5 reasons why we love our Job??

1. The Challenge:

One hundred percent of the people who loved their jobs, cited the challenge of their work as the single biggest reason they enjoyed what they did. They solved problems and put their skills to good use. The job provided variety, and they learned something new every day.

2. Great Bosses:

Almost everyone who loved their job cited their boss as a key factor. The boss allowed the employees to experience the challenge.

3. Great Coworkers:

Most of the responders who loved their job also cited their coworkers. They felt part of a “team” and believed everyone was marching towards the same goal. Many recognized their coworkers as talented and caring.

4. Work That Matters:

For many, their satisfaction came from doing a job in which they felt they made a difference. They didn’t have to save the world, but they felt they improved it in some way. Helping others and achieving a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day made the hard work worthwhile.

5. Being Employed:

It is a statement on the current economic environment that many people responded they loved their jobs because they had one. Having friends and family who had to restart their careers after a layoff made them glad to be working regularly.

Other positive comments included flexibility and work/life balance. What was interesting is that not a single respondent mentioned salary or benefits as the reason for loving their job.

Do you love your job now???

STAY YOUNG!!!

Posted by Varumana- Usha

 Hi,

Do not regret growing older. We all wish to remain young for ever, but it is a privilege denied to all by GOD. Ageing is a natural process, which cannot be stopped.

There are two eternities that can really break you down. Yesterday & Tomorrow

One is gone and the other doesn’t exist…So,My Dear Friends,Please do not forget to live yourself too…otherwise when you realize that you have forgotten to live, it will be too late..so..Live Today...Live happily…Life has become very fast and Life is very short too....so please Live Yourself too.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG:

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6... The tears happen.. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but  by the moments that take our breath away.

WHY DO WE OFFER FOOD TO LORD BEFORE EATING???

Posted by Varumana- Usha

Hi,

Indians make an offering of food to the Lord and later partake of it as prasaada – a holy gift from the Lord. In our daily ritualistic worship (pooja) too we offer naivedyam (food) to the Lord.

The Lord is omnipotent and omniscient. Man is a part, while the Lord is the totality. All that we do is by His strength and knowledge alone. Hence what we receive in life as a result of our actions is really His alone.

Knowing this, our entire attitude to food and the act of eating changes. The food offered will naturally be pure and the best. We share what we get with others before consuming it. We do not demand, complain or criticise the quality of the food we get. We eat it with cheerful acceptance ( prasaada buddhi).

Before we partake of our daily meals we first sprinkle water around the plate as an act of purification. Five morsels of food are placed on the side of the plate acknowledging the debt owed by us to the Divine forces (devta runa) for their benign grace and protection.

Our ancestors (pitru runa) for giving us their lineage and a family culture, the sages (rishi runa) as our religion and culture have been "realised", aintained and handed down to us by them, our fellow beings (manushya runa) who constitute society without the support of which we could not live as we do and other living beings (bhuta runa) for serving us selflessly.

Thereafter the Lord, the life force, who is also within us as the five life-giving physiological functions, is offered the food. This is done with the chant:

                                        praanaaya swaahaa,
                                        apaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        vyaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        udaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        samaanaaya swaahaa,
                                         brahmane swaahaa

After offering the food thus, it is eaten as prasaada – blessed food.
