Only 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. Studies from 1915 through to the 1950s maintained that the majority of dreams were in black and white, but these results began to change in the 1960s. Today only 4.4% of the dreams of under-25 year-olds are in black and white. Recent research has suggested that those changing results may be linked to the switch from black-and-white film and TV to color media.

         India's GSLV-D3 powered by homegrown cryogenic engine for the first time failed in its mission as the rocket carrying a communication satellite deviated from its path and went out of control shortly after its lift-off from the space port here on Thursday.

"The mission objectives are not met fully. There are indications that the cryogenic engine ignited but the vehicle was tumbling and controllability lost," ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan said.

      The 49-metre tall three-stage Geo Synchronous Launch Vehicle blasted off at 4.27pm at the end of a 29-hour countdown but minutes later ISRO said it had stopped receiving data.

        I'm back! Let me start of with an interesting story!!

            One afternoon a wealthy lawyer was riding in  his limousine when he saw two men along the roadside eating  grass. Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and he got  out to investigate. He asked one man "Why are you eating  grass?"

            "We don't have any money for  food," the poor man replied. "We have to eat grass."

"Well,  then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you",  the lawyer said.
             "But sir, I have a  wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree". "Bring them  along," the lawyer replied.
            Turning to the other poor man  he stated, "You come with us also."

            The second man, in a pitiful voice then said, "But sir, I also have wife and SIX children with me!" "Bring them all, as well," the lawyer answered.

            They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even  for a car as large as the limousine was. Once underway, one  of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir,  you are too kind.

            Thank  you for taking all of us with  you."

            The lawyer replied, "Glad to do  it. You'll really love my place; the Grass is almost 1  metre high!"

        His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tool and ran to the bog.

      There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

   The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

          Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill .. His son's name?

               Here is an short story to explain the "Salt, Pepper and the Spices of Life"..

    You're sitting at a table, having a meal with some friends.

      Bowls of soup are served to everyone at the table. Before tasting the soup, the person next to you reaches for the salt and pepper, and for the next 20 seconds vigorously shakes into the soup more salt and pepper than you would use in a month.

      You have a pained look on your face. These thoughts immediately go through your mind: "Why would you put salt and pepper in soup, or on any dish, BEFORE you taste it? How do you know how much to add?" You might also think, "How can someone put so much salt and pepper in their food?"

    Of course, the roles could be reversed. You might be the one who loves to put a lot of salt and pepper on your food and the person next to you eats the soup without adding salt or pepper. In that case, you think, "How can she eat this bland soup without putting any seasoning in it?"

    When it comes to salt, pepper, onions, garlic, curry or just about any type of seasoning, we tend to see things only one way - OUR way. It's hard for us to understand how someone could enjoy food when it is not seasoned as we think is appropriate. We cringe when we see someone "overdoing" or "under-doing" the spices.

   How we season our food is a matter of preference and personal taste.

  There is no right or wrong way to use seasonings. Furthermore, the way in which another applies salt and pepper does not affect us in any way. They're not putting the salt and pepper in YOUR soup. They are putting the spices in their own soup.

     Our world is so diverse, and yet it is difficult for us to accept each other's preferences. Often, when we see people doing things we wouldn't do, our mind says: Why aren't they thinking as I think? Why aren't they acting as I would act? Your mind would often have you believe that your way is superior. Your beliefs and habits are shaped by your genetics and your environment. Each person has different genetics and has grown up in an environment that is different than yours.

     Why expect everyone to come to the same conclusion?

      Our spiritual growth comes when we learn to accept that others have different preferences, and we honor those preferences. There is no universal religion that everyone will agree to practice. There is no universal political viewpoint that all will accept. There is no one way of raising children that all cultures will agree upon. Marriage customs will vary from culture to culture.

    Getting people to agree on these issues is like trying to get everyone to use the same amount of salt and pepper on their food. It's not going to happen.

     The diversity in this world is beautiful and we can open our hearts to it. Within our own country and in our relations with people in other countries, we need to continually remind ourselves that it's perfectly acceptable for people to have preferences. If the other person is not harming us, why can't we just smile and get on with life?

     The next time you're tempted to judge or criticise the way other people think or act, realize that in most cases, they're just using a different amount of salt or pepper than you would use. Allow them to have their preferences, and there is no need to even consider what YOU would do.

Yawns:

If your body is low on oxygen, your mouth opens wide and tries to suck more in. Yawning is a way to regulate the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in your blood. Unfortunately, yawns are nearly impossible to stifle.

Eye Twitches:

Serious eye twitches can be a symptom of neurological disorders, but often there is a more mundane explanation. Common causes for eye twitches include stress, lack of sleep, extended staring or eye strain. Before you get frantic, try reducing your stress level, cutting back on caffeine and catching up on sleep.

Sneeze:

Sneezes happen when your body is trying to expel an irritant from the nasal cavity. If you have allergies, pollen or pet dander is usually to blame. If you have a cold, your body makes mucus to trap the virus, and sneezing helps force it (and the sickness) out of your body. An over-the-counter allergy or cold medicine helps suppress your reaction to allergens or reduce mucus production, which should prevent sneezing fits.

Cough:

A cough is another mechanism your body uses to get rid of irritants. There are special cells along your air passage, says Dr. Plasker, that recognize irritants and force them out. Common colds, sinus infections and pneumonia all increase your body’s mucus production, which triggers coughing.

Smoking and asthma also tend to irritate the cells. To help cut down on chronic coughing, exercise regularly and practice good posture to keep your air passage open.

        Here is a Nice story with a good moral. Please go through it..

              A kindergarten teacher has decided to let her class play a game.The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates, so the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

           So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes; some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week.

          Days after days passed by, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended....

          The teacher asked: "How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?". The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.

          Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: "This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go.

If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime???"

Moral of the story:

          Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not carry sins for a lifetime.

            Forgiving others is the best attitude to take!

      Do you know what is "ANIMATRONICS"?      

        Animatronics is essentially a cross between Animation and Electronics. Basically, an animatronics is a mechanized puppet.

        Basically, the puppet consists of a metal skeleton, over which materials (such as clay, latex, etc.) are overlaid to make a body and face. The metal skeleton will be hooked up to some wiring and a control, from which the puppeteer can operate the puppet.

        It can be preprogrammed or remotely controlled. It was originally coined by Walt Disney as "Audio-Animatronics”, which can actually be seen in various forms as far back as Leonardo-Da-Vinci's Automata Lion.

      Long before digital effects appeared, animatronics were making cinematic history. The scare generated by the Great White coming out of the water in "Jaws" and the tender otherworldliness of "E.T." were its outcomes. The Jurassic Park series combined digital effects with animatronics.

      Animatronics are not normally used for theatre productions - although last year, the world was inspired by “The Sultan’s Elephant”, a giant puppet elephant which was taken to the streets of London.

       The world-famous Stan Winston Studios has made maximum use of the animatronics technique. “Enthiran” is the first Indian movie to use Stan Winston Studio’s Animatronics technology.

               A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

               As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.

              Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said "With all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

               Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.

               Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

               When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.

               With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words "PAID IN FULL".

             Wipro has tightened internal control in the finance division. The employee, who was working in the 'controllership' division within the finance department in the last three years, stole a password and transferred funds from Wipro's account at a bank.

             Suresh C Senapaty, Wipro's CFO has also confirmed the incident.The company has carried out an investigation and is undertaking actions with respect to stricter adherence to processes. Wipro officials have succeeded in recovering about half the money, but will still face a loss of about $2 million.

            Apart from setting up an internal investigation team, Wipro has also taken help from external auditors and investigation experts who will vet its processes and certify the soundness of its controls. Wipro plans to make it compulsory for its employees to sign an undertaking about sharing of passwords and any unauthorized transactions.

         The company is also planning to frequently rotate its employees, who are working in sensitive functions within the finance department. Currently, employees in such functions spend around three years before a transfer.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG:

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6... The tears happen.. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

WHY DO WE OFFER FOOD TO LORD BEFORE EATING???

Hi,

          Indians make an offering of food to the Lord and later partake of it as prasaada – a holy gift from the Lord. In our daily ritualistic worship (pooja) too we offer naivedyam (food) to the Lord.

             The Lord is omnipotent and omniscient. Man is a part, while the Lord is the totality. All that we do is by His strength and knowledge alone. Hence what we receive in life as a result of our actions is really His alone.

            Knowing this, our entire attitude to food and the act of eating changes. The food offered will naturally be pure and the best. We share what we get with others before consuming it. We do not demand, complain or criticise the quality of the food we get. We eat it with cheerful acceptance ( prasaada buddhi).

            Before we partake of our daily meals we first sprinkle water around the plate as an act of purification. Five morsels of food are placed on the side of the plate acknowledging the debt owed by us to the Divine forces (devta runa) for their benign grace and protection.

            Our ancestors (pitru runa) for giving us their lineage and a family culture, the sages (rishi runa) as our religion and culture have been "realised", aintained and handed down to us by them, our fellow beings (manushya runa) who constitute society without the support of which we could not live as we do and other living beings (bhuta runa) for serving us selflessly.

          Thereafter the Lord, the life force, who is also within us as the five life-giving physiological functions, is offered the food. This is done with the chant:

                                        praanaaya swaahaa,
                                        apaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        vyaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        udaanaaya swaahaa,
                                        samaanaaya swaahaa,
                                         brahmane swaahaa

After offering the food thus, it is eaten as prasaada – blessed food.

                 Do you know "Why do we wear marks like tilak and the pottu on the forehead?".. Here i will explain it to you: The tilak is a blessing of the Lord and a protection against wrong tendencies and forces.

              The tilak or pottu invokes a feeling of sanctity in the wearer and others. It is recognized as a religious mark. Its form and colour vary according to one's caste, religious sect or the form of the Lord worshipped. In earlier times, the four castes (based on varna or colour) – Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Sudra – applied marks differently.

The brahmin applied a white chandan mark signifying purity, as his profession was of a priestly or academic nature.
The kshatriya applied a red kumkum mark signifying valour as he belonged to warrior races.
The vaishya wore a yellow kesar or turmeric mark signifying prosperity as he was a businessman or trader devoted to creation of wealth.
The sudra applied a black bhasma, kasturi or charcoal mark signifying service as he supported the work of the other three divisions.

         Also Vishnu worshippers apply a chandan tilak of the shape of "U", Shiva worshippers a tripundra of bhasma, Devi worshippers a red dot of kumkum and so on.

          The tilak cover the spot between the eyebrows, which is the seat of memory and thinking. It is known as the Aajna Chakra in the language of Yoga. The tilak is applied with the prayer – "May I remember the Lord. May this pious feeling pervade all my activities.

         The entire body emanates energy in the form of electromagnetic waves – the forehead and the subtle spot between the eyebrows especially so. That is why worry generates heat and causes a headache. The tilak and pottu cools the forehead, protects us and prevents energy loss.

        Sometimes the entire forehead is covered with chandan . Using plastic reusable "stick bindis" is not very beneficial, even though it serves the purpose of decoration.

           Nokia Corp said that they will offer free navigation services globally for users of its smart phones, in a drive to counter a similar move by Google Inc.

          The application, with detailed maps for more than 180 countries, will also have voice guidance in 46 languages in 74 countries. It will be immediately available for download on Nokia’s Ovi Map site, and from March all new Nokia GPS-enabled smart phones will include the new version of Ovi Maps. Users will also have free access to Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides that have information on more than 1,000 destinations globally.

          “We can now put a complete navigation system in the palm of your hand, wherever in the world you are, whenever you need it and at no extra cost,” Nokia Executive Vice President Anssi Vanjoki said. “By adding cameras at no extra cost to our phones we quickly became the biggest camera manufacturer in the world. The aim of the new Ovi Maps is to enable us to do the same for navigation.”

        The mobile phone industry has been hit hard by saturation in markets – especially in Europe – and the global financial crisis, forcing handset makers such as Nokia to increasingly turn to providing services for users, such as music and video downloads, navigational maps and games.

         Nokia says that by 2011 it expects some 300 million active users of its services.Nokia said that research firm Canalys estimates that in 2009 some 27 million people worldwide were using the global positioning system, or GPS, on handsets. The Finnish company’s new service could increase the number of GPS navigation users to 50 million, through a download of the new Ovi Maps available immediately, Nokia said.

         In an $8 billion deal, Nokia in 2008 bought U.S. navigation-software maker Navteq Corp., a major provider of digital map data and content. In October, Nokia reported its first quarterly loss since it became the world’s biggest handset maker in 1998 and said it would focus on smart phones, based on “user experience improvements,” to help it boost performance.

       In 2008, Nokia sold 468 million handsets, up 7 percent on 2007. It maintained its No. 1 position in the third quarter last year, with a 38 percent global market share and sales of 108.5 million handsets.Nokia is due to release its fourth-quarter and 2009 full-year earnings on Jan. 28.

   Why do we light a lamp?

              In almost every Indian home a lamp is lit daily before the altar of the Lord. In some houses it is lit at dawn, in some, twice a day – at dawn and dusk – and in a few it is maintained continuously (akhanda deepa). All auspicious functions commence with the lighting of the lamp, which is often maintained right through the occasion.

             Light symbolizes knowledge, and darkness, ignorance. The Lord is the "Knowledge Principle" (chaitanya) who is the source, the enlivener and the illuminator of all knowledge. Hence light is worshiped as the Lord himself.

             Knowledge removes ignorance just as light removes darkness. Also knowledge is a lasting inner wealth by which all outer achievement can be accomplished. Hence we light the lamp to bow down to knowledge as the greatest of all forms of wealth

              Why not light a bulb or tube light? That too would remove darkness. But the traditional oil lamp has a further spiritual significance. The oil or ghee in the lamp symbolizes our vaasanas or negative tendencies and the wick, the ego. When lit by spiritual knowledge, the vaasanas get slowly exhausted and the ego too finally perishes. The flame of a lamp always burns upwards. Similarly we should acquire such knowledge as to take us towards higher ideals.

         While lighting the lamp we thus pray:

                  Deepajyothi parabrahma
                    Deepa sarva tamopahaha
                   Deepena saadhyate saram
                  Sandhyaa deepo namostute

                I prostrate to the dawn/dusk lamp; whose light is the Knowledge Principle (the Supreme Lord), which removes the darkness of ignorance and by which all can be achieved in life.

          The acquiescence had outraged free-speech advocates and even some shareholders, who argued Google’s cooperation with China violated the company’s “don’t be evil” motto. The criticism had started to sway Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who openly expressed his misgivings about the company’s presence in China.

          But the tipping point didn’t come until Google recently uncovered hacking attacks launched from within China. The apparent goals: breaking into the computers of at least 20 major U.S. companies and gathering personal information about dozens of human rights activists trying to shine a light on China’s alleged abuses.
Google spokesman Matt Furman declined to say whether the company suspects the Chinese government may have had a hand in the attacks.

        Google officials also plan to talk to the Chinese government to determine if there is a way the company can still provide unfiltered search results in the country. If an agreement can’t be worked out, Google is prepared to leave China four years after creating a search engine bearing China’s Web suffix, “.cn” to put itself in a better position to profit from the world’s most populous country.

        Many Web sites based outside China, including Google’s YouTube video site, are regularly blocked by the country’s government.

                It has taken more than 15 years for James Cameron to come out with eco-minded epic Avatar costing in excess of $300 million. Coming from the stable of Cameron who has directed Terminator, Aliens, True Lies and and Titanic, Avatar has been one of the most anticipated movies of the decade and Cameron who had doubled up as the writer hasn't disappointed the audience. Cameron had made sure that Avatar is nothing like what the audience has seen before.

   Cameron once again proves that he is master of science-fiction along Spielberg. Although many criticised the huge hype around Avatar, the film’s heart is firmly in the right place and the performances are committed. Avatar's visuals like any Cameron movie are breath-taking. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña have lived up to the role of such anticipated movie. Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang provide good supporting performance. The movie definitely takes imagination to an unimaginable limit.

   Avatar is a brilliant movie and if you see it your 160-odd minutes won't be wasted. It is a great experience, not to be missed under any conditions. It is highly advisable to watch it only in 3-D.

Samsung to Produce 80% of Cell Phones in 2010!!

           Samsung Electronics is expected to manufacture over 80 percent of its mobile phones in overseas plants in 2010.

           According to the mobile phone industry on Sunday, the electronics giant plans to produce 269.67 million cell phones this year in seven plants worldwide including a local factory in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

          Under the plan, the six overseas plants will make a total of 221.32 million units, accounting for 82 percent of the total production.

          Samsung's facility in Tianjin, China will produce the most at 82.72 million units, followed by Huizhou, China (73.26 million), Gumi (48.36 million), Vietnam (34.15 million), Brazil (13.95 million), Shenzhen, China (8.97 million), and India (8.27 million).

          It is the first time that Samsung's proportion of overseas cell phone production will top the 80-percent mark. The proportion has risen gradually from 25 percent in 2005 to over 70 percent last year.

            Thankfully, Gov Central’s crack team of mathematicians have been toiling in the depths of excel spreadsheets to project what the 2010 General Schedule (GS) pay scale will most likely be.

            These are educated extrapolations based on current information and data, but are subject to change once the fiscal year 2010 budget is signed by President Obama.

TIME LINE:

March: President Obama proposed a 2 percent raise for federal employees.
July : In early July, the House Appropriations Committee approved their version of the budget, keeping the 2 percent raise in tact.
On July 9, the Senate approved a 2.9 percent raise for civilian employees as well as a 3.4 percent increase for military service members.
December: Congressional negotiators closed a deal Tuesday night that includes a 2.0 percent federal employee pay adjustment, which includes a 1.5 percent nationwide increase in base pay and a 0.5 percent average increase in locality pay. Congress is expected to pass the pay raise and Omnibus spending bill on Friday.
In late November, President Obama announced a 2.0 percent increase in base pay with no adjustment in locality pay. With Congress splitting the 2 percent across base and locality pay, federal employees are expected to receive a nominal increase overall. This is due to the fact that locality pay percentage becomes a multiplier of sorts.
On December 23, President Obama issues an executive order implementing the 2010 pay raise.

Modem:: A modem is a device that converts digital signals, from a computer, into analog signals for transmission over telephone lines. A modem also converts incoming analog signals into digital signals. 56K means that this type of modem has the ability to transmit at up to 56,600 bps.
ADSL:: ADSL is a type of high-speed Internet access for consumers. ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. This is a technology that allows for digital transmission over existing telephone lines. The term 'asymmetric' refers to the fact that the speed that you send data can be different than the speed that you can receive data. Therefore, a typical user will have a faster download speed than upload speed through ADSL. ADSL service is typically many times faster than a 56k modem while allowing for regular phone/voice usage simultaneously on the same telephone line.
Bandwidth:: Bandwidth refers to how much data is transmitted over a given period of time. For digital devices, bandwidth is measured in bits per second (bps).

Cable Modem:: Cable modem service is a type of high-speed Internet access offered by local cable companies for consumers. Using the same coaxial cable used for TV signals, the speed of downloading data is typically many times faster than a 56K modem. Typically, upload speed is restricted to only 56Kbps, more than enough for normal, fast "surfing" of the Internet. Cable modem service is an "always-on" type of connection, which is especially vulnerable to hacker attacks. Users can prevent unauthorized access with a software firewall product.

              One day, their good health didn't help when they went on a rare vacation and their plane crashed, sending them off to Heaven.When they reached the pearly gates St. Peter escorted them inside. He took them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, with a fully stocked kitchen and a waterfall in the master bathroom. A maid could be seen hanging their favourite clothes in the closet.

         They gasped in astonishment when he said, "Welcome to Heaven. This will be your home now."The old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost. "Why, nothing," Peter replied, "remember, this is your reward in Heaven."

         The old man looked out of the window and right there he saw a championship golf course, finer and more beautiful than any ever built on Earth."What are the greens fees?" grumbled the old man."This is heaven," St. Peter replied. "You can play for free, every day."

         Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch with fine food laid out before them, from seafood to steaks to exotic deserts and free flowing beverages. "Don't even ask," said St. Peter to the man. "This is
        Heaven, it is all free for you to enjoy."

        The old man looked around and glanced nervously at his wife."Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods and the decaffeinated tea?" he asked.

         "That's the best part," St. Peter replied. "You can eat and drink as much as you like of whatever you like and you will never get fat or sick. This is Heaven!"

            The old man pushed, "No gym to work out at?"

           "Not unless you want to," was the answer.

            "No testing my sugar or blood pressure or...?"

            "Never again. All you do here is enjoy yourself."

             THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE, YOU MUST GIVE YOURSELF AT LEAST 3 MINUTES TO READ THIS!

               I just thought to let know what my doctor told me recently. I don't think she was lying and neither am I, so please pass this on to your friends.

               One morning a few months ago in broad daylight, a girl was getting into her car when a few men approached her with what looked like a torchlight. Quite harmless looking. They pressed the "torchlight" into her back and immediately she went limp and very pale. So she wouldn't be able to fight back, they slashed her thigh with a parang and sped away in her car.

                 There were many people around and they quickly took her to the nearest clinic which was my doctor's clinic. There were two doctors at that time and they managed to stitch up her wound but the girl remained pulse-less and still pale as paper. No pulse, no BP (blood pressure). Just like dead.

               My doctors were confused as to how one wound on the thigh made the girl almost like dead? They managed to revive her and save her life.

              After some checking around, the doctors found out what actually happened was that the girl was made unconscious not by a torchlight but actually a high voltage weapon. I forgot how many watts she mentioned. 1000? Anyway, it was high enough to kill a person by electrocution.

             It seems this weapon is from China . It's not rampant yet in Malaysia , but with this thing, a person can rob, rape, kill, kidnap, and practically do anything to you. My doctor said that if the girl weren't taken to the clinic immediately she would have died because there was no pulse on her.

              So please just beware of your surroundings, if anybody is lurking around with a torchlight-thingy and approaches you, just scream or run away. Better to be embarrassed than ZAPPED and fried, right? Take care.

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and ask him for a Phone Call.

Shop-owner replied sweetly this is not a STD, but you can do one call.The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

The boy asked, "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

The woman replied, "I already have someone to cut my lawn."

"Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now." replied boy.

The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who was presently cutting her lawn.

The little boy found more perseverance and offered, "Lady, I'll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of North-Palm beach, Florida ."

1. Know your priorities.

Being clear about what is truly important to you is the first step to saying no. When you know what you want out of life, you’ll be more deliberate about how you spend your time. It will be easier to see when obligations, tasks and responsibilities fit into your ideal life plan, and when they don’t.

2. Know your bosses priorities.

OK you say, “But it’s not me. It’s my boss. He just keeps piling on the work. How can I tell my boss ‘no’ without getting fired or passed over for promotion?” Good question. Again, let’s get back to priorities. Do you know your bosses priorities? Do you know the priorities of your boss’ boss?

3. Say no for now.

If your boss plops a new project on your lap, look for ways to postpone starting the project – if your plate is already full. Try an approach like this: “That sounds like a great project. I can see the positive impact it would have on our organization. I’d love to start working on it in a month, after I have wrapped up projects X and Y. Are you agreeable with that?” You’ll show your boss your impeccable time management skills and how in sync you are with your organization’s goals. And he or she never had to hear the word “no” – how great is that?

4. Know how to say no.

Say things like “Thank you for the offer, but I’ll have to pass this time.” Or “Thank you, but that doesn’t fit in my schedule right now.” Having some pre-rehearsed, friendly ways of saying “no” will help you muster the courage to decline offers graciously when you want to and need to.

5. Approach no from a position of power.

Instead of saying “I can’t do this” say “this doesn’t fit my priorities right now.” When you say “I can’t” the words themselves feel powerless. By realizing something doesn’t fit your priorities and turning it down, you’re putting yourself in a position of power: the power to make decisions that help you get what you want out of life.

Using these five techniques you will free yourself from the stress of too much to do and create time to do what you enjoy … like just hanging out with your family or playing ball in the front yard. Doesn’t that sound nice? Just say “no” and you can have it, too!

             College is a time of extreme freedom but, let’s face it, not everything about college screams unfettered space. Students don’t usually have a lot of extra money and that means that their personal space is limited.

            According to the 2000 census, about 2 million students were crashing in dormitories or residence halls. The 2010 census is not yet complete, but expect to see those numbers balloon with an increase of college attendance coupled with a recession keeping people out of the labor market and in school.

          At college, as in life, we occasionally become bored with the task at hand. Maybe we don’t really care about how igneous rocks formed when magma cooled intrusively or extrusively, or why the answer to this math problem is theta instead of cosine.

         Not everything we learn in college is fun.. School is expensive and working part-time doesn’t exactly cover all the bills. Nationally, about 66% of students who graduate with a Bachelor’s degree do so with $23,000 dollars in student loans. In the credit card department, the average senior carries a balance of more than $4,100 dollars. Unfortunately, 20% of students matriculate with more than $7,000 dollars charged against their little plastic pals.

TIPS FOR CIVIL SERVICE INTERVIEW

Hi,

Preparation for the Interview is a continuous process. This involves a wide reading of books, journals, magazines and at least two newspapers. One should try to improve his/her conversational skills with the right pronunciation.

The candidate should be prepared to answer questions on his background, hobbies and extra curricular activities. It is a good idea to discuss current affairs and recent issues with friends. One good way of rehearsing possible questions would be to have mock interviews and discussion groups. The candidate should make a self analysis of his strengths and weaknesses and make a conscious effort to play on his strengths.

Some useful tips for a successful interview at UPSC are:

To have a positive body language
To have a good personal turnout and ensuring the right posture
To answer questions clearly and confidently
Try to remain calm and composed even when faced with provocative questions
Try not getting into long winded explanations and answer to the point.

Things To Be Avoided at the UPSC Interview:

Avoid the expression, 'I am sorry.'
Avoid conversational cliches, like: 'as you know', 'that's correct', 'of course', 'indeed', 'obviously', etc.
Avoid technical jargon. However, if a member continues to probe you in any technical field, you can use technical expressions.
Maintain a cheerful disposition. Now and then you can appear serious; but most of the time keep smiling or look cheerful and composed. One caution here: if the board laughs, you should only smile. It is only when you maintain some amount of distance that the board begins to wonder about the depth of your personality.
Do not give long introductions. Come straight to the heart of the matter.
Show human concern whenever possible in your answers.
You should be logically consistent and analyse things rationally while talking. You are supposed to defend what you say, but with due respect to the views of the board. Stop trying to defend an answer if it becomes difficult to do so logically and fairly.
Do not make hasty or sweeping generalisations.

According to UPSC report, it has been observed that from 1979 onwards, 90 percent of the candidates who qualify for interview hover around the minimal percentage of 55 percent that is prescribed for the test. However to be assured of a Class I service, one has to generally obtain about 58 percent marks. It has been noticed that only those, securing 60 percent and above are sure of getting a service of their own choice. The figures clearly reveal that the marks in the interview test play a determining role in final selection of candidates.

               Today let us discuss about an interesting topic: "Difference between GSM and CDMA IN MOBILE CONNECTION".

        In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA).Understanding the difference between GSM and CDMA will allow you to choose a carrier that uses the preferable network technology for your needs.

        The GSM Association is an international organization founded in 1987, dedicated to providing, developing, and overseeing the worldwide wireless standard of GSM. CDMA, a proprietary standard designed by Qualcomm in the United States, has been the dominant network standard for North America and parts of Asia. However, GSM networks continue to make inroads in the United States, as CDMA networks make progress in other parts of the world.

Coverage: The most important factor is getting service in the areas you will be using your phone. Upon viewing competitors' coverage maps you may discover that only GSM or CDMA carriers offer cellular service in your area. 

Data Transfer Speed: With the advent of cellular phones doing double and triple duty as streaming video devices, podcast receivers and email devices, speed is important to those who use the phone for more than making calls. CDMA has been traditionally faster than GSM, though both technologies continue to rapidly leapfrog along this path. Both boast "3G" standards, or 3rd generation technologies.

EVDO, also known as CDMA2000, is CDMA's answer to the need for speed with a downstream rate of about 2 megabits per second, though some reports suggest real world speeds are closer to 300-700 kilobits per second (kbps). 

          GSM's answer is EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), which boasts data rates of up to 384 kbps with real world speeds reported closer to 70-140 kbps. With added technologies still in the works that include UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephone Standard) and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), speeds reportedly increase to about 275—380 kbps. This technology is also known as W-CDMA, but is incompatible with CDMA networks. An EDGE-ready phone is required.

Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards: 
       In the United States only GSM phones use SIM cards. The removable SIM card allows phones to be instantly activated, interchanged, swapped out and upgraded, all without carrier intervention. The SIM itself is tied to the network, rather than the actual phone. Phones that are card-enabled can be used with any GSM carrier.

     The CDMA equivalent, a R-UIM card, is only available in parts of Asia but remains on the horizon for the U.S. market. CDMA carriers in the U.S. require proprietary handsets that are linked to one carrier only and are not card-enabled. To upgrade a CDMA phone, the carrier must deactivate the old phone then activate the new one. The old phone becomes useless.

International Roaming:
            If you need to make calls to other countries, a GSM carrier can offer international roaming, as GSM networks dominate the world market. If you travel to other countries you can even use your GSM cell phone abroad, providing it is a quad-band phone (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). 

          By purchasing a SIM card with minutes and a local number in the country you are visiting, you can make calls against the card to save yourself international roaming charges from your carrier back home. CDMA phones that are not card-enabled do not have this capability, however there are several countries that use CDMA networks.

                 A good cover letter is more important than you think. Perfectly excellent job candidates can lose out on a job because of a poorly focused, rushed cover letter. Avoid these top cover letter mistakes!

A cover letter (like a resume) should be no longer than one page. You may think that you have so much experience you need more to effectively detail it.

            The resume was impressive. The formatting was impeccable, the content was excellent, and he did a great job of focusing on accomplishments instead of job duties. If I were an employer, I would have been impressed.Then I looked at his cover letter and imagined the employer tossing that perfect resume into the trash bin.

              Many people looking for jobs destroy their resumes by accompanying them with halfhearted or downright terrible cover letters. While some employers don’t bother reading cover letters, most do. And they will quickly eliminate you if you make these mistakes.

         Be sure your cover letter uses a standard business letter format. It should include the date, the recipient’s mailing address and your address.

It may seem counter intuitive, but your cover letter, like your resume, should be about the employer as much as it’s about you. Yes, you need to tell the employer about yourself, but do so in the context of the employer’s needs and the specified job requirements.

The cover letter is really your best opportunity to show the employer why your experience matters to the job to which you are applying. This means that a cover letters emphasis should be on relevant skills, not the description of job duties, accomplishments or previous projects. Take a given project, for example, as a jumping off point (i.e. first sentence or clause) of a paragraph then explain what skills you gained from it that are meaningful to your prospective employer.

Employers tend to view typos and grammatical errors as evidence of your carelessness and inability to write. Proofread every letter you send. Have a friend who knows good writing double-check it for you.
There is no gray area here: You must include a well-written, neatly formatted cover letter with every resume you send. If you don’t, you won’t be considered for the job.

If u have Dark Circles under your eyes, wat is the Solution?

           For under eye circles, use a creamy emollient concealer. "The skin under your eyes is thinner, and it has fewer oil-producing glands,". So you need a moisturizing cover-up to make it go on smoothly and adhere well. The wrong formulation will dry and accentuate lines, so to help concealer go on smoothly and evenly, apply an eye cream first with your finger.Next, apply a thin layer of concealer over the entire under eye area, using a concealer brush. Layer on a second coat to lighten the darkness. Concentrate on the darkest part (often the inner corner to the middle of the eye), and blend it up into the lash line. To keep concealer from slipping into the crevices of skin, set it with powder before starting on the other eye.

   2. Wat about  Blemishes and Breakouts?

        When a pimple appears, place an ice pack on it for 5 to 10 minutes to reduce swelling, then pat the area dry and apply benzoyl peroxide cream or gel with a clean cotton swab.You can top it with concealer that also contains benzoyl peroxide. For blemishes and small spots, rely on sticky concealers, which come in compacts or tubes. For larger blotches or redness around the nose, use more watery liquid concealers (commonly sold in tubes), or try foundation.

          For pimples, remove flakes with a wet washcloth. Next, dab a medicated acne treatment on the pimple. "Work it into the skin until it disappears,". Next, with a brush, dot a tiny bit on the middle of the pimple. Using a clean finger, push (don't rub) it into the skin until it disappears. The key is to build thin layers. Set with a large brush and translucent powder.

The Downsides:

• The environment is intrinsically nerve-racking. “Maybe there are some law practices that aren’t that stressful, but the majority of them involve a lot of stress due to so many deadlines,”, “Everyone also wants his work done yesterday.”

• “Law schools don’t stress public or human relation skills,”  Sometimes lawyers know the law well, but they don’t know how to be good employers.

• Every minute you waste costs money. Lawyers live or die by their annual billable hours to clients. Although as a legal secretary your hours aren’t generally included in their billing, the office may turn into a pressure cooker during busy times as lawyers stack up the hours to justify taking a vacation.
